Abu Dhabi International Airport changed its name to Zayed International Airport, in honor of the founding father of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It is 38 km to the south-east of the centre of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. The airport is the hub of the flag carrier airline Etihad Airways. The airport has 3 passenger Terminals.
Zayed International Airport (AUH) is growing rapidly and is managed by Abu Dhabi Airports, a public corporation, wholly owned by the Abu Dhabi government. To meet the growing demand, Abu Dhabi Airports has started the construction of the Midfield Terminal Building (MTB) and the Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC) that provide an ultramodern Terminal 3 dedicated to Etihad Airways, a new 4,100 meters North Runway, the complete renovation of Terminal 1, a new control tower, a new Arrivals Hall and a VIP terminal.

Zayed International Airport (AUH) will welcome travelers to its new terminal from November 2023 capable of accommodating 45 million passengers per year and handling 11,000 passengers per hour. Known as the Midfield Terminal Building during the construction phase, “Terminal A” boasts interconnected biometric systems for a seamless, digitized journey from pre-travel to boarding gate, facilitated by self-service kiosks, enhanced security checkpoints and cutting-edge baggage handling system.

Covering 742,000 square meters of built-up area, the new Terminal A at Zayed International Airport (AUH) is among the largest airport terminals in the world and features luxury lounges, relaxation areas and spa facilities for rest and rejuvenation before or after flight. Furthermore, it has over 150 outlets including shops, bars and restaurants all within Terminal A and which are available to passengers, both business travelers and tourists.

Transportation to / from Abu Dhabi airport
Bus
From its three terminals, buses leave for the city centre of Abu Dhabi. The trip takes about 45 minutes. The buses pass the stops of Muroor and Street 11 and terminate at the Old Fish Market in Al Nasr Street, near NYU Abu Dhabi.
