New speed record for the Gulfstream G700 from Taipei to Miami
Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. celebrated an important milestone in its history: its fleet reached a record 700 pairs of cities connected at record speeds, thanks to the recent flight of the Gulfstream G700 from Taipei to Miami. This extraordinary result comes exactly 50 years after the first certified speed record of the American company, obtained in 1975 by the Gulfstream GII.
During the flight, the G700 covered a distance of 7,740 nautical miles (14,334 kilometers) in 14 hours and 38 minutes, flying at an average cruise speed of Mach 0.87. A feat that reaffirms Gulfstream's leadership position in the business aviation industry, both in terms of performance and innovation.
The G700's exceptional performance is made possible by the synergy between Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines, advanced aerodynamics, high-speed winglets and state-of-the-art avionics technology. On-board innovations include the Predictive Landing Performance System and the Combined Vision System (CVS), which combines the synthetic visual system (SVS) and the advanced visual system (EFVS) in a single display for improved pilot awareness and increased airport access.
In just one year of service, the G700 has already broken 80 speed records on routes between two cities, surpassing the achievements of its predecessors the G650 and G650ER, which together hold over 130 records. The G650ER, in particular, boasts the longest and fastest flight in the history of business aviation – from Singapore to Tucson (Arizona) in 15 hours and 23 minutes. While the G650 holds the record for the fastest round-the-world westbound flight for a non-supersonic jet, covering 20,310 nautical miles/37,614 kilometers from San Diego in 41 hours and 7 minutes, with stops in Guam, Dubai and Cape Verde.
