Oriental inks, the new Armani/Casa collection
On the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2025, Giorgio Armani celebrates the twenty-fifth anniversary of the birth of Armani/Casa with a collection that is both a tribute and a style statement: Oriental Inks. The presentation is held in the historic store in Corso Venezia 14 in Milan, in a significant space for the brand, enhanced by a special set-up.
The exhibition can be enjoyed both inside the store and through the fifteen windows overlooking the street, in a symbolic gesture of openness and dialogue with the city.
Giorgio Armani in illustrating the new collection specified: "The dialogue with Milan has become an essential part of my work as a creative and entrepreneur. And it is particularly so during the Salone, when the city is so lively and international. After two years at Palazzo Orsini, I wanted to focus my attention on the store in Corso Venezia, a dynamic space, designed to adapt to ever-changing configurations, creating new visual experiences. The set-up and the new pieces, authentic examples of the highest manual workmanship, are visible through the windows to anyone passing by the street. I like the idea of offering a surprise that captures attention, a suggestion that broadens borders, now that borders are often narrower."
The new collection stands out for the harmonious fusion between the rigor of the form and the charm of the decoration, in a vibrant balance that comes from the ancient craftsmanship and extreme attention to every detail. The precious materials and complex workmanship enhance the materiality of the furniture and objects, the protagonists of an exhibition itinerary that winds through environments marked by large rice paper walls, evocative of traditional Japanese interiors.
The aesthetic leitmotif is inspired by the grace of oriental watercolors and the graphic strokes of inks on paper: dragons, bamboo (auspicious symbols of strength, flexibility and resistance) and dense jungle vegetation are transformed into refined decorations, reinterpreted with sophisticated techniques on fabrics, precious woods and lacquered surfaces. The figurative and chromatic enchantment reaches its maximum expression in the series of pieces covered in satin and velvet, all entirely embroidered by hand. The project is the result of collaboration with de Gournay's experts in hand painting and artisanal embroidery and represents a perfect synthesis between art and creativity applied to design.
Up to fifty different materials are used on silks and velvets, including: sequins, metal and silk threads, glass beads, wool satin and silk organza, embellishing unique furniture, such as extraordinary Couture dresses. A delicate shade of light gold runs through the entire collection, as in the VIRTÙ storage unit, embellished with a handle that recalls the handle of a katana and a golden dragon engraved with gold leaf on the light wood surface. The same gold covers the satin of the three-seater sofa from the ALBERT series, on which a luxuriant, hand-embroidered jungle develops, which gives depth and intensity to the decorative motif.
The dragon also returns in the SEINE console, in the new lichen green velvet version, in which metal wires and beads trace a three-dimensional design that captures movement and energy. Among the novelties of the collection are the PLAY interlocking bookcase; the upholstered chair with curved backrest and AMBRA canaletto walnut structure; the round lacquered table with bamboo motif base in light satin brass and the coordinated armchair from the VIVACE series; the large TROCADERO table, decorated with a delicate geometric design made with brass filaments dipped in black lacquer; the two-seater sofa and the VISO armchair with soft and enveloping lines; the coffee table with stitched leather details and the OPEN pouf.
The colour palette is dominated by neutral and elegant shades, interrupted by intense and unexpected colour accents, such as the Viridian green of the AMEDEO bed with upholstered structure, entirely hand-embroidered with jungle motifs that continue on the bedspread and cylindrical cushions, or the bright red of the lampshade of the ALADINO floor lamp.
The world of objects reflects a perfect synthesis between functionality and aesthetic research: the set of AMELIE velvet boxes combined with the matching frames; the VADUZ salt and pepper set, personal and compact, or in the VENTO version decorated with a bamboo motif; ASTRO table accessories, such as napkin rings and decorative spheres in gilded metal with perforated logo.
In terms of lighting, the AUDREY metal table lamp with fringes and the new ANTHEA line stand out, consisting of a table lamp and the first suspension lamp by Armani/Casa, with a diffuser in thin selenite sheets for a soft and enveloping light.
Finally, for the mise en place, the collection offers the ARTHUR white porcelain service, the cutlery with the ANNABEL logo, the transparent white glasses, bottle and jug from the ORSINI series and the MISTRAL fabric and teal baskets. The ARCADIA linen set (placemat, coaster and napkin) enhances the ancient art of embroidery à jour, closing the circle between tradition, luxury and the culture of living.
