2018-2019 The historic covers of Avion Tourism Magazine
With the fourth edition, in addition to the significant graphic and editorial transformation of the print edition, the digital PDF edition of the magazine is also launched
The fourth edition of the magazine debuts with the first issue of 2018, presenting significant innovations, a new format, a fresh graphic design, and a new distribution strategy. Indeed, besides being available in designated racks, the print edition of the magazine will also be distributed in the Vip Lounges, Sala Amica, and Sala Mure Venete of Milan Bergamo Airport.
In 2018, the print edition is accompanied by a digital PDF edition of the magazine, downloadable and accessible on all devices (computer, tablet, mobile phone) or by accessing the airport's and Avion Tourism Magazine's website, or through a QR code placed in various areas of the terminal.
The first major change involves the masthead, which now includes the word "Tourism" alongside the historic logo, with a specific mention of the special edition dedicated to Milan Bergamo Airport and its passengers, distinguishing it from the new exclusively digital edition launched in the same year, aimed at users of the Avion Tourism Magazine website who may depart from Bergamo airport as well as from all other Italian and international airports.
The new 21x26 cm format accommodates a series of innovative elements that reflect the constant and significant evolution of Milan Bergamo Airport, which continues to expand its connections with continuity flights covering all continents. In this context, the magazine's table of contents transforms, adapting to the different destinations reachable in Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.
The articles dedicated to various destinations feature a new graphic design, characterized by alternating texts in Italian and English, accompanied by visually striking photographic images and enriched with bilingual captions. Additionally, the "Where to Go" section, which concludes the articles, is supported by photographic images of the main monuments to visit during the trip, thus enhancing readers' visual experience. Alongside this, there is also a section dedicated to "Tours and Excursions" recommended by the Editorial team, providing valuable ideas and suggestions to further enrich one's travel itinerary.
The "Airport" section also undergoes a significant transformation, expanding its space and content. In addition to the usual news about Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY), it now also provides detailed information about the airports of the connected destinations featured in each issue of the magazine. This expansion allows readers to gain a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the places they may travel to. Additionally, the new "Airlines" section takes center stage, highlighting all the latest news and relevant information about the airlines operating at the Bergamo airport. This update enables passengers to stay informed about the latest offers, services, and available routes, thus facilitating the planning of their travels.
The magazine concludes with interviews with important figures in the airport industry, offering readers a unique opportunity to better understand the behind-the-scenes operations of airports and industry trends. Furthermore, a new section called "Travel Experience" is dedicated to airport shopping, providing advice, reviews, and tips on how to make the most of the shopping opportunities available while waiting for their flight.
Below is the table of contents and the respective editorials of all the issues published in 2018 and 2019.

To help you choose your next trip, even in the hottest months of the year, in this edition of Avion Tourism were highlighting a few tourist destinations that can be easily reached from Milan Bergamo Airport. We recommend, for those who wish to stay in Europe, two beautiful cities that have not been spoilt by mass tourism and are able to delight with their local attractions.
Kharkiv, in Ukraine, which has changed appearance significantly in recent years, with new urban infrastructure, parks and squares, enchants with its wealth of historical monuments. Instead Burgas, in Bulgaria, is one of the few seaside towns in Europe to be surrounded by four lakes, geothermal areas, important architectural and artistic monuments and attractions that testify its important past. In Africa, two interesting destinations combine beaches with opportunities for culture. Alexandria in Egypt is ideal for exploring; a place where you can just relax by the sea or discover ancient treasures such as the historic library. Another interesting destination is Monastir, which not only offer spectacular turquoise sea and beautiful beaches but also monasteries, mosques and markets, while the surrounding areas reveal Tunisias unique charm.
On the other side of the Atlantic, we suggest visiting Toronto, which from Milan Bergamo Airport can be reached with a flight to Munich followed by a connection to Toronto, both with Lufthansa. Canada's largest city is not only interesting for both its historic and modern areas, but is also a great starting point for visiting the beautiful Niagara Falls.
Lastly, to keep you up to date with new destinations we take a look at the airports and flights from airlines flying out of Milan Bergamo Airport. We also feature an interview with Maurizio Paggetti, Director of ENAV's Air Navigation Services, to discover who manages civil air traffic in Italy and how security and safety is guaranteed. Even though the hottest summer months have already passed, it's never too late to fill your suitcases and get away from it all, choosing one of the many destinations on offer from Milan Bergamo Airport. For travellers to Europe, we recommend two enchanting cities. Faro, in Portugal, is the heart of the Algarve, the southernmost region of the country. The city blends unspoilt nature and ancient history in its splendid cathedral, characteristic churches, beautiful sea with stunning beaches and small islands, and nature reserves. Istanbul, in Turkey, offers discovery after discovery with ancient mosques, sumptuous palaces, museums, old and new districts, bazaars for shopping and trips such as tours on the Bosphorus and to the Princes Islands in the Marmara Sea, along the Asian coastline of the city.
In Africa, we suggest Tangier, the gateway to Morocco, which dominates the Strait of Gibraltar. A wonderful place to explore, Tangier combines old and new in its winding streets, colourful markets, medina, mosques and palaces, as well as museums and archaeological sites. Moscow offers a very different kind of charm. Famous for its monuments, churches and valuable buildings such as the Kremlin, Red Square and St. Basil's Church, it also offers an infinite number of other things to see and do such as museum visits, trips to the theatres, events and excursions.
Another interesting destination is Shanghai, in China, which can be reached from Milan Bergamo Airport with flights operated by the airline BMI Regional to Munich and, after a stopover, with Lufthansa. The "Pearl of the Orient", with its skyline of high rises, is one of the world's most modern international cities, which is filled with monuments, museums, old and new districts tilled with discoveries and gastronomic delights.
We also feature a column dedicated to Shopping in the Airport, a focus on connecting airports and flights operated by airlines from Milan Bergamo and a feature on the rights of the passenger to discover what protection is given to air travellers.
Airport passengers can browse a hard copy of the magazine in the VIP Lounges, in the Sala Amica and in the Sala Mure Venete. We also recommend, while waiting for your flight, that you download the digital version of the magazine by scanning the QRCode with your smartphone, accessing Wi-Fi or visiting the Airport or Avion Tourism websites.

The holidays at the end of the year are not the only good time for a break, the first few months of 2019 also offer excellent opportunities for travelling. So, prepare your bags and choose one of the wonderful destinations that can be reached from Milan Bergamo Airport. If you wish to remain in Europe, we can recommend two fascinating cities. Vienna, Austria's Imperial city, has numerous attractions including sumptuous baroque and Art Nouveau buildings, contemporary architecture, over one hundred museums and, of course, delicious sweets and desserts. Sofia, capital of Bulgaria, situated at the foot of Mount Vitosha, has important monuments dating back thousands of years, which reveal the its historic past and blend seamlessly with the new modern features of the city - the cultural and economic heart of the country.
In Asia, we suggest Amman, capital of Jordan, which is set on hills between the desert and the Jordan Valley. This enchanting city cleverly combines its old world, dating back nine thousand years to the Stone Age, with the modern parts of a lively, contemporary metropolis of over two million inhabitants.
St. Petersburg, known as the "Venice of the North" has navigable rivers and canals, drawbridges, sumptuous buildings with their own unique, eclectic style, green parks and gardens, and many one-of-a-kind museums such as the Hermitage with its famous works of art.
In the United States, spectacular New York - to visit at least once in a lifetime - with its renowned boroughs of The Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island and Manhattan, offers famous attractions, monuments, buildings and skyscrapers. The list of things to do is endless and includes events, theatres, museums and excursions. The "Big Apple" can be reached from Milan Bergamo Airport with a BMI Regional flight to Munich and from there with connecting flight operated by Lufthansa, but also with Ukraine International Airlines via Kiev, continuing on from Ukraine's capital with the same airline.
