Vega - Vertical Gateway is born: the new company for Advanced Air Mobility in Italy
With SEA Milan Airports, Skyports and 2i Aeroporti among the shareholders, Vega aims to develop sustainable infrastructure for urban and suburban transport, starting from Milan and Lombardy
The first meeting of the Board of Directors of Vega - Vertical Gateway was held, a new company established to promote the development of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in Italy, with a particular focus on Milan and Lombardy, which counts among its shareholders SEA Milan Airports, the company that manages Milan's airports; Skyports, leader in vertiport infrastructure in the AAM industry; and 2i Aeroporti, Italy's main airport platform, controlled by F2i - Fondi Italiani per le Infrastrutture and Ardian Infrastructure.
Vega's Board of Directors is composed of Paolomaria Cappello, Chiara Dorigotti, Alessandro Fidato, Damian Kysely and Laura Pascotto.
Alessandro Fidato has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors, while Paolomaria Cappello has been designated as Chief Executive Officer of the company.
Vega aims to introduce innovative and sustainable solutions for the transport of people and goods in both urban and extra-urban areas, making use of electric and hybrid vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
The company's main focus will be on the development of the infrastructure necessary for Advanced Air Mobility, with particular reference to the design, construction, development, maintenance and operation of vertiports. These will be the areas dedicated to the take-off and landing of eVTOLs, with an initial project focused on the connection between the airports of the Milan system, the city of Milan and other areas of Lombardy, with the intention of subsequently expanding operations to other Italian regions.

2i Aeroporti is the holding company, controlled by F2i
Third Fund for Infrastructure (51%) and a consortium led by Ardian with Credit Agricole Assurance (49%), which owns the main Italian airport network, with around 63 million passengers in 2023 and a market share of 32%. Its portfolio includes 45% of SEA, the majority of the airport companies of Naples, Turin and Trieste and a minority stake in Bologna airport and Skyports, a leader in vertiport infrastructure.
