The airport was officially opened at Okęcie, Warsaw, by President Ignacy Mościcki on 29 April 1934. Throughout the years, Warsaw Airport has managed to maintain its position as one of Europe’s and the world’s leading airports - it has changed and developed, expanding its route network. 79 years ago, passengers were handled in a modern and spacious, by the day’s standards, terminal located in 17 Stycznia street. Now, they use the state-of-the-art, comfortable Terminal A in Żwirki i Wigury street. The Warsaw airport has been named after Fryderyk Chopin - Polish pianist and composer - since 21 March 2001.
