Sea Prime at Ebace
Outlook for Milano Prime and new maintenance hangar preview
SEA Prime, which, with the brand Milano Prime, is the first manager of infrastructures dedicated to Business & General Aviation in Italy and among the leaders in Europe, participates at EBACE Connect, the digital appointment of EBACE for the entire Business Aviation community which, this year, held online from May 17th to 21st with the participation of the main operators in the sector.
In a European context showing a good recovery of flights in the first four months of 2021 (+10.6%), Italy marks +36.9% in terms of business and general aviation movements, thanks to a greater propensity towards business flights recorded all over the world in the pandemic context, with Milano Prime at Linate recording +30.8% compared to 2020 and a three-digit increase in the first weeks of May, although the market has not yet returned to 2019 levels.
In 2020 SEA Prime has implemented several measures to ensure the safety of passengers and operators, including frequent sanitisation of spaces, social distancing, the use of paperless documentation and the possibility of carrying out nasal pharyngeal Covid-19 swabs in the two terminals, all of which has made it possible to obtain the “Hygiene Synopsis” certification from TÜV Italia / TÜV SÜD. The commercial initiatives have not stopped, initially focused on ensuring the safety of passengers with the commercial agreement with the San Donato Group for carrying out Covid-19 swabs.
The focus on sustainability has not been overlooked, with a new agreement with BMW for the supply of BMW i3 full electric cars for the follow-me service. In the absence of trade fairs, we have satisfied requests from manufacturers to organize static displays of aircraft at Linate Prime, given the convenience of the location just 15 minutes from the centre of Milan. Excellent feedback also for the fast-track service at Malpensa Prime, used by the Milanese and international sports teams for a transit with a guarantee of privacy and security.
The positive effects of the vaccination campaigns are expected throughout 2021, with further recovery in view of the summer season and the upcoming events scheduled live for autumn in Milan: the Design Week, the F1 Grand Prix and the Fashion Week, allowing the coming back of premium customers. The winter Olympics assigned to Milan and Cortina, which will take place in 2026, will also be an important catalyst for traffic in the coming years.
"Among the most important projects in terms of development for SEA Prime is the construction of a new maintenance hangar of approximately 4,500 square meters at Linate Prime, the eleventh on the apron. Designed to accommodate all business jets models, architecturally consistent with the materials used in the Milano Prime terminals, it will meet the highest standards of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. The hangar, which we plan to deliver in 2022, has been designed for Sirio, part of the Directional Aviation Group, one of the main customers and partners of SEA Prime present at Milano Prime for over twenty years and which, with the new hangar, will consolidate and expand its maintenance activity as Authorized Service Facility Bombardier” comments Chiara Dorigotti, CEO of SEA Prime.
"We are delighted that 20 years after Sirio rented the first hangar at Milano Linate Prime, we can now look forward to the next chapter with this new state-of-the-art hangar! It will be a milestone for our Maintenance Organization and all of our clients, and allow us to further expand our portfolio of services” says Tom Engelhard, CEO of Sirio.
