The 43-metre M/Y Sunrise
Late last year, the Yildiz Shipyard in Istanbul has delivered 43-metre M/Y Sunrise with exterior lines by Ginton Naval Architects and a custom interior by Hot Lab
The Milan based studio - which has recently celebrated its 15th anniversary - over the years has earned many international awards and also for this new project has not lowered the bar aiming for great quality result.

“I had the pleasure to meet the passionate owner and his wife in Istanbul in the summer of 2017 and in less than an hour we agreed on all the design and contract principles” says Antonio Romano, Hot Lab co-founder. “He has owned three previous yachts and was looking for a family-oriented motoryacht for personal use and thanks to his previous experience was able to provide us with a detailed brief. This was a great help both for us and the shipyard.”

The owner began cruising the Turkish coastline on traditional wooden gulets and motorboats before deciding to rent a shipyard in Istanbul to build two yachts of 23 and 26 metres respectively designed by Aldo Cichero. His third new-build was a 34-metre yacht which he owned for 13 years.

“Yachting has been my hobby for 30 years,” says the owner. “I chose Yildiz to build my fourth yacht because of the high quality of the work they do and I met Hot Lab at the yard. I’m accustomed to working with Italian designers and found the young, friendly, client-oriented team very easy to work with. They did a great job and worked very hard with myself and my wife.”

“Sunrise is a beautiful yacht for a wonderful family,” says Enrico Lumini, Hot Lab’s head designer. “The interior style reflects the culture, tastes and status of her cultured owners. The requested style is soberly classic with contemporary details that reflect the exterior lines and satisfy three generations of family members.”
Abundant walnut, macassar ebony and honey afzelia woodwork with checkerboard panels have been seamlessly combined with detailing in chrome, nacre and woven leather. The free-standing furniture is a mix of bespoke designs by Hot Lab, such as the main dining table and coffee tables, and pieces supplied by top Italian brands like Giorgetti and Minotti. The bathroom accessories are by Dornbracht and the deck furniture by Glyn Peter Machin.

The layout is unusual insofar as in addition to the four lower deck guest suites (two twins and two doubles), the master stateroom overlooks the open aft deck on the upper deck. The forward main deck houses a large galley and pantry on the portside, as well as the captain’s cabin to starboard directly below the wheelhouse. The yacht accommodates 12 guests in total and 9 crew.
Also unusual on a yacht of this size is the lift serving all three decks. There are full dining facilities inside and outside on the main deck, as well as under the hardtop on the sundeck and a spacious seating area in front of the wheelhouse. The tenders and toys are stored explorer-style on the open foredeck, leaving room for a beach club in the stern. It goes without saying that the crew and guest circulation on board are separated.

“The level of attention the owner dedicated to the project was quite extraordinary,” says Burak Akgül, Chief Executive Officer of the Yildiz Shipyard. “As always, the interiors commanded a substantial proportion of his attention and Hot Lab’s ability to render his family’s vision – and then ensure the execution down to every last detail with an unwavering positive attitude – was exemplary. From our perspective as the shipyard, their technical support and coordination was absolutely first rate. The end result is a happy owner!”
