Dubai Airports promotes well-being
Yoga sessions, on-track fitness, and mental health support to ensure a stress-free travel experience for passengers
Throughout the month of October, Dubai Airports is offering an initiative focused on physical and mental well-being, involving both travellers and airport staff. Recognising that travel can be a source of stress as well as being a source of pleasure, the initiative aims to reduce flight anxiety and promote a more relaxed and welcoming airport experience.
According to the meditation app Calm, about one in three people experience anxiety about flying, with the fear of flying ranking as the second most common phobia in the world. Over 8% of the US population, for example, prefers to avoid flying, while many others find it difficult to switch off while on holiday, with 49% of Emirati residents struggling to disconnect from digital devices even during moments of relaxation.
Michelle Lee, Head of Communications at Dubai Airports, explained: "The airport experience is a key part of the journey. Our goal at DXB is to ensure that this experience is as positive, healthy and stress-free as possible."
The initiatives undertaken show an innovative and holistic approach to the well-being of both travellers and airport employees, promoting physical and mental health:
Yoga at the airport
DXB hosts yoga sessions led by a certified instructor at Terminal 3 during peak hours, with a focus on mental and physical relaxation techniques that travelers can integrate into their pre-flight routine. The free sessions, designed to provide a serene and rejuvenating experience, began on October 11 and continue until the end of the month, every Friday and Saturday at 5:30 am.
Airport Cycling Experience
Dubai Airports has partnered with CRANK, a UAE-based boutique fitness studio, to host the popular RIDE experience on the runway at Dubai International Airport (DXB). This one-of-a-kind fitness event aims to promote wellness as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge.
Pink October
On the occasion of Pink October, Dubai Airports will distribute wellness pins to travellers to raise awareness of breast cancer. In addition, free mammograms will be offered to employees (women over 40 and their families), thanks to the collaboration with Prime Healthcare. Male employees can also register their wives for screening, as part of company benefits.
Mind Spotlight
To celebrate World Mental Health Day on 10 October, Dubai Airports partnered with Prime Clinic to offer a brain analysis to employees, enabling early detection and management of any cognitive impairments.
Employee webinars
Dubai Airports also invests in the well-being of its employees through webinars that explore the impact of childhood experiences on work behaviour. In addition, a rare opportunity is offered to the children of employees, between 12 and 17 years old, who are invited to take a tour of the airport and learn the basics of money management.
