ENAC at the Irefi conference
Key tools for sustainable aviation at the "Italy-France Round Table on Transport Infrastructures" event
The Director General of ENAC, Alessio Quaranta, today participated in the "Italy-France Round Table on Transport Infrastructures", an event focused on collaborations between the two countries for the development of new aviation fuels and to promote intermodality in transport. In his speech, Quaranta shared ENAC's vision for a more sustainable aviation future, based on three main pillars:
► Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF),
► intermodality,
► Advanced air mobility.

The highlights of his speech:
► Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF): Quaranta stressed that SAF today represents the most immediate and concrete solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the aviation sector in the short and medium term. He highlighted the importance of incentivising both the use and production of these fuels, in order to achieve the goal of zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
► Intermodality in Transport: the Director General spoke of the need to improve connections between destinations and airports, promoting the reduction of road traffic and promoting the decarbonisation of the transport sector. The integration between train and air is already a consolidated reality, but ENAC looks ahead to further develop integrated mobility.
► Advanced Air Mobility: looking to the future, Quaranta highlighted Italy's commitment to advanced air mobility. Our country is one of the European leaders thanks to the "AAM 2021-2030 National Strategic Plan", which defines the guidelines for the development of this new transport frontier and, thanks to the adoption of the ENAC Regulation, regulates its implementation.
Quaranta concluded by underlining Italy's key role in building a more sustainable and innovative aviation, capable of anticipating future challenges and contributing to an increasingly ecological and integrated transport system.
