Olbia Costa Smeralda airport is 4 km from the city center of Olbia. GEASAR S.p.A., Olbia Airport’s management company, was founded in 1985 and became operational in 1989. After 15 years of activity, in 2004, the company obtained the forty-year concession to manage the airport.

 

 

Olbia Airport’s new terminal was opened in 2004. The work for a renovation of the old areas was completed in 2000 with a project by the architect Willem Brower. The air Terminal was extended to 42,000 square metres for 4,500,000 passengers per year, three times the size of the old area. The air Terminal is equipped with 40 check-in desks, 15 exits, 5 fingers, and a large shopping area of 2,200 square metres. The control tower is approximately 42 metres high and hosts, in an area of 120 square metres, the third biggest operative room in Italy after Milan Malpensa and Bologna.
