Easyjet inaugurates its new base in Fiumicino

Since 2008, the carrier has carried more than 30 million passengers at Rome Fiumicino where it operates 16 routes, including 5 new routes to Hamburg, Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich

On the day of the inauguration of the new operational base at Leonardo da Vinci Airport, easyJet celebrates a significant milestone: over 30 million passengers transported to and from Rome Fiumicino since 2008, the year in which the company began its operations at the airport.

With this opening, the British carrier further consolidates its strategic role in Italy's main airport, offering a total of 16 destinations for the summer season, including five new international routes, and increasing capacity by 35% compared to the previous summer. In the peak season, easyJet will operate up to 56 daily flights, providing over 1.4 million seats.

Thanks to the new base, passengers departing from Rome will be able to comfortably reach many major European cities at competitive fares, with an efficient and modern travel experience. The new destinations served include Hamburg, Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich which add to an already rich portfolio: Basel, Berlin, Bristol, Edinburgh, Geneva, Glasgow, Lyon, London, Manchester, Nantes, Nice and Paris (Orly).

To celebrate the expansion, easyJet has launched the 'Smiles & More' promotion, dedicated to members of the Miles & More (Lufthansa) and Volare (ITA Airways) loyalty programmes with high status. Until 14 April, members will be able to access easyJet Plus with a 50% discount: an exclusive programme that includes benefits such as free seat selection, increased hand luggage, priority check-in, fast-track checks and greater flexibility.

The opening of the new base also represents an important investment in terms of employment: 150 new hires are expected to support operations at Fiumicino. This move is part of a broader expansion strategy of the carrier in Italy, which also includes the opening of the new base in Milan Linate, with 5 aircraft and 22 routes served.

With 38 aircraft based in four Italian airports (Rome Fiumicino, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa and Naples) easyJet confirms Italy as its second most important market, with 21 million seats available on over 260 routes to and from 19 domestic airports.

To celebrate the opening of the two new Italian bases, the company has also launched a special promotion valid until April 3rd: 50,000 tickets discounted up to 15%, to fly between April 22nd and July 30th from all Italian airports.
