Eurowings launches singles seats on board
Window or aisle or heart? In a first move in the European aviation landscape, Eurowings presents "Flieb's Seats", a special selection of seats designed for single passengers who want to get to know each other during the flight. The new service, integrated into the booking process, makes the flight experience even more personal (and potentially romantic), giving life to the first experiment of blind dating in the clouds.
Simply activate the "Click & Connect" option when booking and indicate your meeting preferences. An algorithm matches passengers with affinity, assigning seats close together to promote mutual knowledge. The experience is discreetly designed: in the dedicated "I fly" area, in the rear of the Airbus A320s, each couple shares the row with the central seat left vacant, while an elegant burgundy bracelet signals participation in the initiative.
The test phase will start free of charge on some selected routes, with the intention of expanding the project soon. Eurowings is already in dialogue with the leading dating platforms to make this innovation even more engaging.
And it doesn't end there: at the Cologne/Bonn hub, the company has opened the new bar "The Blind Gate", a pre-flight meeting point for thrill-seeking hearts. The initiative will soon be replicated at airports in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and even Palma de Mallorca, among the most popular summer destinations.
"After blind booking, now blind dating," said Jens Bischof, CEO of Eurowings. "Our goal is to go beyond just getting from A to B: we want to connect people. And perhaps, give birth to something more".
