The new east wing of Genoa Airport

The intervention allows the Genoese airport to reach 3 million in potential passenger capacity and the first piece of a restyling plan destined to change the face of the airport by 2026
Built with an investment of 15 million euros and completed in 18 months, the East Wing of Genoa airport covers an area of 5,500 square meters, of which 550 square meters are dedicated to a commercial area that includes a new Duty Free and a multi-product store. The new infrastructure is operational for passengers as of March 19.

A strategic expansion for the future of the airport
With this expansion, the Cristoforo Colombo will be able to accommodate up to 3 million passengers, marking a significant step within a broader renewal plan. Over the next 12 to 18 months, further works worth €12.6 million will lead to a complete restyling of the airport, with the aim of offering a travel experience that meets the best international standards.

The intervention involves the redevelopment of the external façade and, inside, the renovation of the boarding lounges (including floors, false ceilings, furniture and toilets), the creation of a new bar in the arrivals area, the installation of a modern baggage handling system and the addition of 10 new check-in counters. The border control areas will also be strengthened with the installation of e-gates for automatic passport control, as well as the renovation of the second floor, where new offices and a lounge with a terrace overlooking the sea will be built.

Investments for better accessibility
In addition to the 27.6 million euros allocated to the expansion and redevelopment of the airport, the airport will benefit from a major infrastructure investment worth about 80 million euros. These funds will be used to improve the accessibility of the airport, with the construction of the new Genoa Airport railway station and a pedestrian walkway with a moving walkway, which will allow you to reach the airport in just 6 minutes from the station.

The new East Wing of Genoa Cristoforo Colombo Airport was officially inaugurated in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Hon. Edoardo Rixi, the President of the Liguria Region, Marco Bucci, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Genoa, Pietro Piciocchi, the President of ENAC, Pierluigi Di Palma, and the President of Genoa Airport, Enrico Musso. The new infrastructure of Genoa Airport is operational for passengers starting from 19 March.
