The beauties of Bolzano between markets and ski slopes
A city tour during the Advent season with the traditional Christmas market, many events and relaxation or snow sports in the best ski areas in the Alps
Christmas in Bolzano is synonymous with magic, traditions and many events for adults and children. Like every year, Bolzano is preparing to give a unique experience with the Christkindlmarkt, the traditional Christmas Market. The inauguration takes place on November 28 at 5 p.m. in Piazza Walther, the beating heart of the city, with the lighting of the more than 1300 lights of the large "Tree of Wishes", 20 meters high and decorated with decorations created by children and young people being treated in hospitals thanks to the ceramic-therapy workshops of the Lene Thun Foundation. This moment of sharing kicks off a magical atmosphere, including the scents of cinnamon, Christmas sweets and mulled wine, traditional carols, twinkling lights and notes of alpine horns.

What to see and savor at the market
Walking among the wooden houses, the eyes are filled with wonders: handcrafted decorations, lanterns, music boxes, angels, nativity scenes and figurines. For those with a sweet tooth, the chalets offer the best South Tyrolean flavors: bacon, pancakes, strudel, apple juice and local wines such as Santa Maddalena and Lagrein, served in the Wine Lounge, together with typical Ato Adige sparkling wines and artisanal grappas. There is no shortage of solidarity proposals: Piazza del Grano hosts the solidarity market until December 23rd.
New for 2024: new exhibition areas
In addition to the traditional 74 chalets on the Walther Square, the Christmas Park extends along Via Isarco (near the Cathedral) to the Capuchin Park, with 18 new stalls, offering even more opportunities to experience the magic of Christmas in Bolzano. The Bolzano Market can be visited from 28 November 2024 to 6 January 2025.
