The exhibition "Neo Pop: perennial metamorphosis of a myth" in Cortina d'Ampezzo
From 5 December 2024 to 21 April 2025 at the Mario Rimoldi Museum of Modern Art with works by 15 internationally renowned artists
From 5 December 2024 to 21 April 2025, the Mario Rimoldi Museum of Modern Art in Cortina d'Ampezzo hosts the exhibition "Neo Pop: Perennial Metamorphosis of a Myth", a group exhibition that highlights the work of 15 artists belonging to the Neo Pop current. These artists have dedicated themselves to a complex and innovative exploration of the new figuration through an immediate and accessible language, aimed at the general contemporary public.
The exhibition represents a unique opportunity to explore the evolution and metamorphosis of the Neo Pop language through an experience that combines culture, tradition and contemporaneity in an engaging and surprising way.

The exhibition, curated by Giorgio Chinea Canale and set up on the first two floors of the museum, brings together some of the most representative names of the Neo Pop scene from the eighties and nineties until the third millennium. The protagonists include Marco Lodola, Gianni Cella, Giuseppe Veneziano, Francesco De Molfetta, Fulvia Mendini, Andy Bluvertigo, Pao, Giovanni Motta, Laurina Paperina and The Bounty Killart, as well as two young emerging artists, Waro and ERK14. The exhibition also includes the international presence of Tomoko Nagao, Gabriel Ortega and Albert Pinya.

This collective wants to give space to a generation of artists often defined as "children of the MTV era", who have assimilated the aesthetics of the music video, transforming it into an art that mixes elements of popular culture (cinema, comics, fashion and television) with academic and classical references.
The opening of the exhibition is entrusted to Marco Lodola (known for his luminous sculptures that give life and color to the vast pop imagery) and Gianni Cella (whose art is characterized by a strong critical and satirical matrix, always with an ironic and reflective key). This is followed by artists such as Giuseppe Veneziano, who combines contemporary and ancient elements in a continuous dialogue; Fulvia Mendini, with works inspired by graphic design and traditional craftsmanship; Giovanni Motta, who explores the genius of childhood through his alter ego JonnyBoy.

Among the other artists present, Laurina Paperina takes the audience into imaginary worlds with a language close to comics and video games, while Francesco De Molfetta explores the vices and virtues of the present with sarcastic and ironic icons. Pao, a representative of street art, infuses his work with surrealist influences, while Andy Bluvertigo celebrates feminine beauty with a lively and fluorescent style. The Bounty Killart reinterpret classicism in a contemporary key with irony and depth.

Among the young promises, Waro offers a mystical urban pop with his humanoids Yu and ERK14 plays with the apparent chaos of everyday objects. Finally, international artists Tomoko Nagao, Gabriel Ortega and Albert Pinya bring their unique visions, ranging from stylized and satirical works to the allure of poetic and dynamic imagery.
