Volotea launches the new Palermo-Bilbao flight
News for travellers departing from Palermo: Volotea offers a new direct international connection with Bilbao, a symbolic city in northern Spain, famous for its cultural offerings, Basque gastronomy and avant-garde architecture such as the Guggenheim Museum.
The flight will operate twice a week, every Tuesday and Saturday, departing from Falcone Borsellino Airport. It is a strategic route that allows direct access to the Basque Country for Sicilian travelers and at the same time offers new opportunities for incoming tourism, facilitating the arrival of Spanish travelers in the heart of western Sicily.
The Palermo-Bilbao flight is part of Volotea's international expansion plan, which aims to strengthen its presence in Palermo, one of the key airports in Southern Italy. The aim is to improve connectivity between medium-sized European cities, promoting cultural exchanges, tourist flows and smart mobility.
But the news does not stop there: from 8 July, Volotea will activate an additional seasonal connection to Heraklion, on the Greek island of Crete, with a weekly frequency active throughout the summer.
