Palermo Airport, PMO

Palermo Falcone Borsellino Airport is located about 35 km west of the city of Palermo, in the municipality of Cinisi in the Punta Raisi area. The name of the airport is in honor of the two Palermo magistrates, Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, killed by the mafia in 1992, together with the men from their stocks.

Palermo Airport is spread over three floors and has two runways. During 2019, various modernization works were completed, such as the first phase of seismic adaptation and restructuring of the passenger Terminal, LED lighting systems with lower environmental impact, roofing with photovoltaic system (parking area of the business center and technological center ) to produce electricity using the energy radiated by the sun and a restyling of the airport.

Palermo Airport, which came into operation in 1960, is managed by the management company Gesap S.p.A. established in 1985 and committed to organizing the systems and infrastructure for a better service to passengers, protecting the airport's safety, environment and sustainability.

Transportation to/from the airport

Train

The train station (Trenitalia) is located in the basement of the airport terminal. The service between the airport and Palermo is active every day.

Bus

At the airport, the bus stops are located at the exit of the Terminal, on the ground floor Arrivals Hall. Bus connections are managed by different companies for the following destinations: Palermo (in about 50 minutes), Trapani (in about 1h 10'), Trapani Airport (in about 1h), Agrigento (in about 2h 40'), Porto Empedocle (in about 3h), Sciacca (in about 1h 50'), Menfi (in about 1h 20'), Ribera (in about 2h 20'), Marsala (in about 1h 30' / 2h), Mazara del Vallo (in about 1h 30'), Catania, Messina, Enna, San Vito Lo Capo and Castellamare del Golfo.

Taxi

The Taxi service is active at the exit of the Arrivals Area of the airport and in conjunction with the flight arrival time.

From Palermo: take the A29 motorway towards Mazara del Vallo, following the signs for the Falcone Borsellino Airport exit.
From Trapani: take the A29 motorway towards Palermo, following the signs for the Falcone Borsellino Airport exit.
From Agrigento: take the SS115 to Sciacca and continue on the A29 motorway towards Palermo, following the signs for the Falcone Borsellino Airport exit.
