For the event, the meeting - talk "Sardinian airports at the center of the island's economic development strategies" was held
Today, the Business Centre of Cagliari Airport hosted the meeting entitled "Sardinian airports at the centre of the island's economic development strategies", organised by SOGAER in collaboration with GEASAR and SOGEAAL. The event is part of the initiatives scheduled for Assaeroporti's Airport Day, a national day that involved 17 Italian airports, telling the fundamental role of airports for the progress, sustainability and economic development of the country.
At the same time, a press conference was held in Rome with the participation of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Matteo Salvini, the President of ENAC, Pierluigi Di Palma, and the President of Assaeroporti, Carlo Borgomeo, to discuss the importance of the airport system.
The airports of Cagliari, Alghero and Olbia have joined the initiative to highlight the socio-economic impact of their activities and their contribution to the sustainable development of the island. The day also highlighted the strategic role of airport networks in responding to the growing demand for air transport, both nationally and internationally, in a highly competitive context.
The meeting was attended by important institutional figures, including the president of SOGAER, Monica Pilloni, the president of the Transport Commission, Hon. Salvatore Deidda, and the regional councilors for Transport and Tourism, Barbara Manca and Franco Cuccureddu, together with the presidents of the local Chambers of Commerce.
Monica Pilloni, of Cagliari Airport, underlined the importance of airports for territorial development, particularly in Sardinia, where insularity makes an integrated and collaborative airport system indispensable. He said that teamwork between airports and with the territory is essential to optimize resources and ensure the economic growth of the region.
Silvio Pippobello, CEO of GEASAR (Olbia Airport) and SOGEAAL (Alghero Airport), also reiterated the strategic value of Sardinian airports for connectivity, the tourism industry and economic growth, underlining the importance of synergistic action between airports to face future challenges, improve operational efficiency and enhance direct and indirect employment related to the sector.
