Events and surprises at Heathrow for Christmas

A few days before Christmas, Heathrow Airport in London is transformed into an enchanting winter village, ready to welcome passengers with a rich program of activities and events for young and old. From 9 to 30 December, the terminals will be decorated with twinkling lights, Christmas trees and spectacular installations, giving each journey a magical and unforgettable atmosphere.

 

 

Santa Claus and his elves will make their long-awaited return to Heathrow throughout December, ready to meet passengers of all ages in each terminal. Young and old alike will be able to share their Christmas wishes with the legendary man in red, ensuring a special souvenir of their trip.

For a unique souvenir, a Digital Caricaturist will be present during the holidays in the terminals, creating personalized portraits sent directly to travelers' phones. And from December 19 to 23, vocal quartet The Jingle Belles will entertain passengers with singing performances that will bring the Christmas spirit to every corner of the airport.

 

 

Children will be able to enjoy creative activities led by the Heathrow Christmas Fairies. From 9 to 30 December, thematic workshops will allow young travellers to make greeting cards, scratch art projects and even their own personalised Santa Claus. A perfect way to entertain them while they wait to board. And for an extra touch of magic, the little ones can meet Bjorn, the famous polar bear of Heathrow. Realistic and friendly, Bjorn will be present on some dates in December to take unforgettable photos with passengers.

 

 

For those still looking for Christmas gifts, Heathrow offers a free gift wrapping service in all terminals, with the option to customise the ribbons. In addition, shoppers will be able to try their hand at arcade-style prize machines, located in the terminals, to win fantastic gifts from prestigious brands such as Charlotte Tilbury, Hamleys and Bollinger.

Thanks to the new bespoke shopping service, travellers can book a session with an accredited Personal Shopper to find the perfect gifts in a relaxed environment away from the hustle and bustle of the terminals. In addition, an online quiz helps you choose the ideal gift to pick up conveniently at the airport.

 

 

Heathrow prepared for the festive season by installing spectacular decorations, including 58 Christmas trees in terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5, giant light packs and Christmas wreaths. Among the installations stand out 9-meter-high trees, perfect for taking souvenir photos.

Behind the scenes, the Heathrow team is ready to face the winter with a fleet of almost 1,100 operational snow removal vehicles and over 2.5 million litres of de-icing fluid, ensuring safe departures even in adverse weather conditions.
