This initiative, designed to welcome and inspire departing travellers, is part of the calendar of events related to the Salone del Mobile Week, but will also remain visible in the following days, transforming the wait for the flight into an opportunity for artistic discovery.

In the heart of the boarding area of the Milan airport, passengers can admire three works that have become symbols of Italian creativity and innovation in the world:

Casablanca (1981) by Ettore Sottsass - Memphis
A visionary totem, a symbol of the Memphis movement, capable of breaking the mold of conventional design.
With its bold geometric shapes, vibrant colors and unprecedented combination of materials, Casablanca embodies the desire to go beyond function to embrace expressiveness, transforming a simple piece of furniture into a work of art. It is a bookcase, but also a declaration of creative freedom, created to amaze and make people reflect on what design really is.

UP5_6 (1969, re-edition 2000) by Gaetano Pesce - B&B Italia

The famous "Women's Armchair" which tells a powerful and provocative reflection on the role of women in society. The sinuous shape recalls the curves of the female body, while the attached sphere (which acts as a pouf) symbolizes a ball and chain, a visual metaphor for the condition of imprisonment and submission experienced by women. A design icon that combines form, function and social denunciation, still surprisingly relevant today.

Pratone (1971) by Giorgio Ceretti, Pietro Derossi, Riccardo Rosso - Gufram
An irreverent chaise longue that replicates a giant lawn, a perfect example of radical Italian design. Made of polyurethane foam and composed of huge flexible grass stalks, Pratone invites you to a playful and unconventional experience of sitting, breaking with any formal logic. A pop icon that transforms furniture into provocation, irony and creative freedom.

The exhibition is only the first chapter of a collaboration with the Triennale di Milano destined to grow, with the aim of bringing more and more art and design into the Milanese airport spaces. Linate thus confirms itself not only as a city airport par excellence, but also as an exceptional showcase for creative and cultural Made in Italy.
