New runway inaugurated at the Aero Club of Bergamo
Important redevelopment and safety works designed and executed by Sacbo, the management company of Milan Bergamo airport, have been completed
The Aero Club of Bergamo has inaugurated its 12/30 runway, 714 meters long and 18 meters wide, after significant redevelopment and repaving works carried out by SACBO. These works, which also included the taxiways and the aircraft apron, were carried out by the Artifoni company on a project by the SACBO Infrastructure Department, with a total investment of about 800,000 euros.

Giovanni Sanga, president of SACBO, underlined the importance of the Aero Club of Bergamo within Milan Bergamo Airport, stating that the investment was made to support the continuity of the Aero Club's programs, including the prestigious flight school.
Andrea Orsi, president of the Aero Club, expressed gratitude for SACBO's support, highlighting how the operational position within an international airport represents an added value in the training of pilots, accustoming them to operate in a controlled and busy airspace.

The intervention improved the operation and safety of the runway, including the adjustment of the declared distances, the removal of the starting points of the 12 and 30 ends, the new configuration of the runway strip and the implementation of Runway End Safety Areas (RESAs) on both ends. These improvements will help to make ground handling more efficient and ensure even higher safety standards.

Passion for flying and excellent training
The Aero Club of Bergamo, founded in 1927, is a point of reference for aviation enthusiasts in the province of Bergamo and beyond. Located at Milan Bergamo Airport, the association is dedicated to the promotion of sport flying, offering a wide range of services and activities for pilots and aviation enthusiasts.
The Aero Club Flight School of Bergamo, provides high-quality training for private and professional pilots. The courses range from the achievement of the Private Pilot License (PPL) to the Commercial Pilot License (CPL), with the possibility of also obtaining specific ratings such as night flight or instrument rating (IR). The school uses a modern and well-maintained fleet, consisting of aircraft such as the Cessna 152 and the Piper PA-28, ideal for both basic and advanced training.

In addition to training, the Aero Club promotes sport flying, including aerobatics and sightseeing activities. Events organized by the Club, such as air rallies and competitions, create a strong sense of community among members and attract participants from all over Italy.
Being a member of the Aero Club of Bergamo offers numerous benefits, including access to discounted rates for the use of aircraft, the opportunity to participate in exclusive events and access to the Club's facilities, which include a Club House and dedicated spaces for briefings and flight planning.

Towards an aeronautical training center of excellence
During the inauguration of the runway, an ambitious vision for the future emerged: to create the most important aeronautical training center in Italy. Currently, in the surroundings of the airport, the territory already hosts a series of institutions related to aviation, including the flight school of the Aero Club of Bergamo, the Institute of Aeronautical Professions "Lindbergh Aviation Academy" of Grassobbio and the Aircraft Engineering Academy of Azzano San Paolo, specialized in the training of aeronautical maintenance technicians. Added to these is SEAS, the aircraft maintenance company that operates for the Ryanair fleet.
Giovanni Sanga, president of SACBO, expressed the desire to unite these realities to create an integrated training center that can become a national point of reference. "There are several opportunities that must be put together, even at a legal level. It would be a great pride and it is a work that we intend to continue," said the president of Milan Bergamo airport.
This vision, if realized, combining technical education with the practical experience of the 3rd Italian airport, would lead to the creation of an aeronautical training center of excellence capable of integrating all facets of the sector.
