Technological innovation for Trapani airport
All airport information, facilities, materials, rooms, equipment, are collected and managed in a digital model
Airgest, the company that manages the Vincenzo Florio airport in Trapani Birgi, is the first public entity in Sicily to undertake the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM), a decisive step towards the digitization of the airport infrastructure. This initiative is perfectly in line with the new Public Contracts Code and ENAC directives, laying the foundations for a more innovative and efficient management of the airport.
The adoption of BIM will make it possible to optimize maintenance, improve the management of real estate assets, increase security and ensure greater operational efficiency. In practice, thanks to this technology, the airport will be able to count on an advanced digital model, which collects and organizes all the information relating to the structure, from plant systems to operational spaces, facilitating interventions and strategic planning.
As pointed out by the president of Airgest, Salvatore Ombra, the decision to invest in this technology stems from the awareness that a modern and digitized infrastructure not only improves the quality of services, but also represents a driving force for the local economy. The implementation of BIM will follow a gradual path, starting from the training of internal staff to the complete integration of new digital tools into management processes. This project is part of a broader plan of growth and innovation, with the aim of making Trapani Birgi airport an increasingly efficient, sustainable and competitive structure on the market.
What is BIM Facility Management?
BIM Facility Management is an innovative methodology that allows you to manage and maintain a building more efficiently, once its construction is complete. Through a digital model, all the information about the structure is collected and organized, including plants, materials, spaces and equipment. This approach simplifies the work of operators, allowing them to quickly access the data they need for maintenance and troubleshooting. For example, if a system needs to be repaired, instead of manually searching for documents and technical diagrams, just consult the BIM model to immediately identify the point of intervention.
