Wizz Air's new Training Center in Fiumicino
The airline has inaugurated its new pilot training center in Italy at Rome Fiumicino Airport with an investment of more than 38 million euros
WizzAir today celebrated the inauguration of its new pilot training centre at Rome's Fiumicino airport, a project made possible thanks to an investment of over €38 million. This innovative structure is the second created by the company, but the first outside Hungary, underlining the strategic importance of Rome Fiumicino for the company's growth in Europe. The new centre will have the capacity to train over 4,800 pilots each year, further strengthening WizzAir's commitment to the highest standards of safety and innovation in the aviation industry.

The pilot training center, located near Terminal 1 of Rome Fiumicino Airport, occupies over 2,500 square meters and includes briefing rooms, classrooms for theoretical training and a modern room equipped with two latest generation CAE flight simulators for Airbus A320, with a third simulator scheduled for 2025. These advanced technological tools, which include high-fidelity visuals and highly realistic flight dynamics, will enable thousands of pilots to complete recurring training annually, supporting the airline's operational expansion.
This new training center builds on the experience of the Budapest center, which has been in operation for six years, which has already provided over 98,000 hours of training. The opening of the Rome facility represents a further step forward in Wizz Air's strategy to continuously invest in staff training, consolidating its role as a leader in the European aviation landscape.

The inaugural event, which took place on 1 October 2024, was attended by leading figures such as Jozsef Varadi, CEO of Wizz Air, Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, and James Cahill, Vice President EMEA Commercial Aviation at CAE.
Marco Troncone highlighted the solid collaboration between Wizz Air and ADR, highlighting the importance of Rome Fiumicino, ranked among the best airports in Europe by Skytrax and confirmed as the best airport in Europe by ACI Europe for the sixth time since 2018. While Jozsef Varadi pointed out that Italy represents one of Wizz Air's key markets, where it already has five bases and over 20 state-of-the-art aircraft: this investment therefore further consolidates the long-standing carrier's presence in the region.
