First sustainable financing for Turkish Airlines
The carrier invests in the future with an innovative loan that integrates environmental objectives and emission reductions
Turkish Airlines has secured major financing for two new Airbus A321Neo aircraft through a JOLCO multicurrency facility, which includes a sustainability-related loan. This innovative financial transaction, structured by Societe Generale, is linked to the achievement of the company's Sustainable Performance Objectives (TSIs), in particular for the reduction of the carbon intensity of the airline fleet, in line with international aviation industry standards.
Known for achieving some of the lowest financing costs in the industry thanks to its innovative and award-winning financial models, Turkish Airlines is taking a significant step towards more sustainable aviation. Turkish Airlines' sustainable growth and fleet renewal strategy contributes to its goal of becoming a carbon-neutral airline by 2050.
Turkish Airlines' funding team has managed to not only achieve one of the lowest financing costs in the industry, but also win numerous awards globally from organizations such as Global Transport Finance, Airline Economics, and Airfinance Journal. Over the past decade, the company has received more than 30 international awards for its aircraft financing operations, amounting to approximately $16 billion, cementing its leadership in the industry.
