Hamad International Airport Achieves Leed Gold Certification for Orchard
Doha Airport's Indoor Tropical Garden Certified for Commitment to Sustainability and Adoption of Eco-Friendly Building Practices
Hamad International Airport in the city of Doha has obtained the prestigious LEED Gold Certification for the Central Concourse, which houses the tropical indoor garden ORCHARD, thanks to the commitment of MATAR, the Qatari company for the management and operation of airports. This important recognition highlights the airport's dedication to sustainability and the adoption of environmentally friendly building practices.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Certification is globally recognized as a symbol of excellence in sustainability and is based on one of the most widely used green building rating systems in the world. The award is given to buildings that meet stringent environmental standards, with criteria including energy efficiency, sustainable water use, air quality, and material selection. Achieving LEED Gold Certification demonstrates Hamad International Airport's commitment to integrating the highest environmental standards into its operations, ensuring long-term efficiency, energy savings and a positive impact on the environment.

With its approach to improving sustainable practices, Hamad International Airport's Central Concourse ranks among the few airport terminals in the world to have achieved such certification.
The achievement of this LEED Certification is a testament to the airport's ongoing commitment to reducing emissions and fighting climate change, through continuous improvements to the facility's environmental performance since its inauguration in 2014.
