Volotea continues to grow in Olbia
This winter, from Olbia airport flights to Barcelona, Rome Fiumicino, Turin, Venice and Verona. In addition, for the Christmas holidays, the carrier reactivates flights to Milan Bergamo and Bologna
Volotea is aiming for a growing 2025 in Olbia and strengthens its presence for the winter. After a successful summer on the Costa Smeralda, it expects 5% growth in Olbia by 2025, with almost 1.1 million seats available and 27 operational routes. These figures confirm Olbia Airport as Volotea's main hub in Italy in terms of capacity.
► For the winter season, the company will offer 4 active routes to Verona, Venice, Turin and Barcelona.
► During the Christmas period, two additional connections will be added to Bologna (up to 4 weekly flights) and Milan Bergamo (up to 3 weekly flights).
► In addition, the Olbia - Rome Fiumicino connection will continue to be operated under a territorial continuity regime, responding to the needs of Sardinian citizens and business travellers.
Summer 2024: exceptional results in Olbia
During the summer season, Volotea recorded excellent results in Olbia, carrying over 687,000 passengers between June and September, an increase of 262% compared to 2021, the year of the inauguration of the base. More than 4,200 flights were carried out (+48% compared to 2021) with an average load factor of 91%, indicating a high occupancy rate on each flight. The carrier also completed 99.7% of its scheduled flights, a sign of reliable and punctual operations. During peak traffic periods, the Volotea team in Olbia exceeded 100 employees. The quality of the service has been recognized by customers: 9 out of 10 passengers, enrolled in the Megavolotea loyalty program, would recommend the company to relatives and friends. In addition, this summer, Volotea sponsored the Red Valley Festival, a reference musical event that has enlivened the Sardinian summer since 2015.
Volotea in Italy in 2024
Since the beginning of the year, Volotea has carried over 3.1 million passengers in Italy, operating more than 20,000 flights, an increase of 8% compared to the same period in 2023. The airline expects to close 2024 with more than 4 million passengers in the country, a growth of 10% compared to the previous year. Improved connectivity and quality of service, from the moment of purchase to the onboard experience, have contributed to a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 36 points since the beginning of the year, rising to 47 points among customers in the Megavolotea programme.
