Amsterdam Airport, AMS

Amsterdam-Schiphol Airport is the main airport in the Netherlands and is located south of Amsterdam, in the municipality of Haarlemmermeer. Schiphol is one of the most important European airports for passenger traffic but also for cargo.

The Schiphol terminal develops from the central square, Schiphol Plaza, and is divided into interconnected pavilions and piers. Then there is the M low cost pier from which, once in the airside (after security), passengers cannot access other areas.

Schiphol has large commercial areas with shops, restaurants, bars, VIP lounges and many other passenger services. Schiphol Plaza not only connects the three areas of the terminal, but also houses other facilities with a large pre-security shopping mall and Schiphol Airport train station.

In one area of the airport there is also an exhibition of the Rijksmuseum which offers passengers a small selection of the famous Dutch 19th century paintings from the well known Amsterdam museum. Next to the museum, there is also the Schiphol Airport Library, which offers access to thousands of books.

For aviation enthusiasts, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport has large scenic areas to spot arriving and departing planes.

Schiphol Airport has six runways, one of which is mainly used by general aviation. The Amsterdam General Aviation Terminal, which opened in 2011, is located on the east side of the airport and is operated as the KLM Jet Center.

Train

The Amsterdam Schiphol Airport train line is located directly below the airport. Trains connect many cities in the Netherlands to Schiphol such as Amsterdam, Utrecht, Leiden, The Hague, Delft and Rotterdam 24 hours on 24 and 7 days a week.

Bus

Buses are located right outside Schiphol Plaza, the airport's main concourse, within walking distance of Arrivals and Departures. Direct bus lines connect Amsterdam and surrounding cities to / from Schiphol Airport. Bus connections also to Amstel, Bijlmer ArenA, Central Station, Holendrecht, Lelylaan, Muiderpoort RAI, Sciencepark, Sloterdijk, Zuid and Duivendrecht.

Car

The route by car from / to the airport and the city of Amsterdam: Via A4 in 22 minutes for about 17.9 Km.
